About 11:15 Thursday morning a small Cessna airplane crashed near 400 E. and 450 S. in LaGrange County.

The pilot, 53-year-old Robert Ostmo of North Dakota, told investigators he noticed he was losing altitude and decided to make an emergency landing.

During the plane's decent the left wing clipped a telephone pole, shearing the wing partially off, causing a fire.

Witnesses tell police that once the plane hit the ground the plane burst into flames.

Ostmo, and his 54-year-old wife, Terryl suffered minor injuries...but a horse was injured during the landing and had to be euthanized.
