FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – In every little girl there is a princess waiting for the world to see. That’s the idea behind the Sew Pinky Disco Beauty pageant.

The pageant was held Saturday afternoon and 21Alive’s Rachel Martin was honored to one of the judges.

This is Sew Pinky’s second pageant. The first one was held in January, and organizer Pinky Saunders says there are many more to come.

The pageant is designed to empower young girls and make them feel beautiful without putting a dent in mom and dad's pocket book.

“We make our beauty pageants where they're not the ‘cutest kid contest’, but we know that every girl is a princess so we like to get them together and dress up and look pretty and win prizes for it,” said Saunders.

Each participant was given a crown and sash donated by local vendors.

Sew Pinky’s pageants are the only ones held locally for babies and little girls. To find out how to get your daughter involved, click on “Sew Pinky” under News Links on our homepage.
