UNDATED (21Alive) - Sunday is Grandparents Day, and the Better Business Bureau in warning seniors about a scam that targets their generation, commonly called the “grandparent scam.”

The scammer preys on the grandparents’ desire to aid their grandchildren. Typically a grandparent will receive a call from someone posing as the grandchild and faking an emergency such as being in an accident.

Scammers target seniors because they are generally trusting and willing to help a loved one.

The BBB tells seniors to be skeptical and ask questions only the grandchild could answer and if one does fall victim, report it immediately to police.
