FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – A group of fathers impacted the lives of children by holding the Real Fathers Fitness Walk.

The goal of the Second Annual Real Fathers Fitness Walk was to encourage and empower fathers to have a strong impact on their children.

Organizers say they want fathers to step up, be responsible, and be the leaders of their families. But, they say, this walk wasn't just for fathers, it benefits children as well.

“I see children having the opportunity to spend quality time with their father. I see children seeing other families with fathers being involved in their lives. So children can see that there is a way for families to work together as a family unit. Then it encourages the children to be better students, better citizens, and to live a positive life,” said Thomas Smith, coordinator and leader of the Smith Academy for Excellence (SAFE Academy).

The walk was organized and sponsored by Omo-tayo Rite of Passage, and the Jennings Center of Fort Wayne.
