MUNCIE, Ind. (21Alive) -- DIY Group Inc., a Muncie-based packaging and distributing plant, informed the state that it will lay off 261 of its employees over the next several months.

Phillip Durham, President of DIY Group, notified the Indiana Department of Workforce Development that the layoffs could take place as early as October 15.

In the notice, Durham said that the layoffs will be a result of a contract loss with Jarden Home Brands.

DIY Group is one of three businesses to announce layoffs this month, along with ModusLink in Indianapolis and SpringLeaf Financial in Evansville.
