FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The Allen County Coroner has ruled that the body found in an alleyway on Scott Avenue Wednesday night is the 8th for the city.

The victim is that of 46-year-old Kimmer Underwood aka Robert Lee Underwood of Fort Wayne.

The autopsy revealed that Underwood died from the gunshot wounds obtained from the shooting.

Fort Wayne Police were called to the city's south side on a report of a possible shooting just before 11:00pm Wednesday night.

Officer Raquel Foster says, “Based on how the call came in, the individual stated that he heard a gunshot and when he looked out, he witnessed or saw a body. So, based on that information, it would lead someone to believe that the incident occurred right there. It would not lead us to believe that the body was left there or dropped there.”

Fort Wayne Police arrived to the 1300 block of Scott Avenue to find Underwood suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

There is little information about the incident, so police are asking anyone with information to contact the police department at 427-1222 or call CrimeStoppers anonymously at 436-STOP.
