FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – More than 350 people came out to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association during the MDA Muscle Walk to help pay tribute to, and raise funds for, children and adults affected by MDA in the Northeast Indiana area.

The walk was held Sunday afternoon at the IPFW athletic fieldhouse. Organizers say by supporting the MDA Muscle Walk event, people can make an immediate difference in the lives of families served by the association.

“It's important that we raise money for them to help fight with research, help them provide educational services, medical services, things that they need throughout the year but also the biggest thing about Muscle Walk, it's just a day for the families to come together, get to know each other, kind of just meet people in the same level that they are and then just have fun,” said April Oberlin, MDA Fundraising Coordinator.

Last year, MDA Muscle Walks nationwide raised more than $6.2 million, and more than $10 million have been raised since the program began in 2011.
