FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – The push to end violence in the community continues.
The violence hits home as a group gathered Saturday evening to rally against the ever-increasing violence in the city.
"Heavens Helping Hands" is a group of women who have all lost loved ones to senseless killings. They organized the rally to show not only mothers, but everyone who has lost someone, that they are not alone and they have support from the community.
“People forget about the families that lost. After the funeral's over everybody disappears, but we're here to encourage the mothers, and the families too, that we're here for you and we're supportive. The violence needs to stop. Basically, the violence needs to stop. We're losing people like flies. They're dropping like flies and it's unacceptable. Unacceptable,” said Timika Bonner who lost her son to violence.
At the rally, there were poems read aloud, a slideshow, and the mothers released balloons as a tribute to their loved ones.
