PERU, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - The Grissom Air Museum unveiled their refurbished C-47 World War II aircraft Friday.
The event kicked off with a flyover to honor the original pilot and all other veterans.
Leuitenant Jim Haus flew a plane like this C-47, during World War II, transporting people and supplies from Europe to China.
Leuitenant Haus is 94-years-old living in Pennsylvania and couldn't make it to the event, but his family was there to see it for the first time.
Bob Haus, Son of Leuitenant Haus says, “Growing up seeing the photos, the old yellow, black and white photos of my father's aircraft in his scrapbook, and then seeing it come to life like this. It really was an overwhelming moment.”
The Grissom Air Museum has been working on this project for the last four months.
