FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - Fort Wayne Firefighters rescue a young boy from a burning home.

Crews were called to the 1300 block of McKee Street just after 8 p.m. Upon arrival, crews could see flames visible and a woman told crew members that her 4-year-old son was still trapped in the house on the second floor.

Firefighters were able to enter the house and rescue the child after about fifteen minutes.

Crews told 21Alive at the scene that the child was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. They also said that the fire started someplace on the second story, but that the cause remains under investigation.

The house was a rental property. Along with the damage to the house, the fire caused damage to phone and cable lines outside.

FWFD Arson Investigators determined the fire was an accident and caused by a child playing with a lighter.
