DETROIT (www.incnow.tv) – Detroit could soon be known for launching a new form of transportation that makes it easier and faster to travel around the region—and Allen County, Ind. fits into those plans.
A monorail makes it easier for passengers trying to get to their flights inside the McNamara Terminal. Plans remain on track that will take you further than just inside one building at Detroit Metro Airport.
Imagine riding a high speed elevated rail system that connects Detroit Metro with nearby Willow Run Airport. That's the goal of Detroit-based Interstate Traveler Company. The cars would be magnetically levitated, and powered by solar power stored by hydrogen.
"Passengers can get between the two places more securely, we can move people's baggage and cargo more securely,” said Justin Sutton, Founder of “Interstate Traveler.”
But, “Interstate Traveler” is not just interested in Metro Detroit's two largest airports, it also wants to connect the rest of the country—and that includes Allen County, Ind.
Fort Wayne is among the stops on the system that would first connect Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio before the rest of the country.
“Intestate Traveler” wants to build a production plant in Indianapolis where the rail cars would be produced.
Nearly 3,000 people could work there, as they help build the system that would run parallel to the interstates.
"It's very high tech, very modern, and it fits the bill for green sustainable jobs everyone is pushing around the world,” said Sutton.
Speaking of green, Sutton tells us his project has the financing in place. The only thing missing is the green light from the governors of the three states to get the project rolling.
Detroit is where the system would start, but operators say they can build one mile of track per day and they could have their system operating within a year once the states approve it.
