FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – It was opening day of the popular Barr Street Farmer's Market.
The market is now open for the season and runs each Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Barr Street Market is presented by Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI) along with the History Center, and it's located on the corner of Wayne and Barr Streets behind the History Center.
A variety of vendors offer fresh produce, baked goods, cheeses and other food products as well as jewelry, crafts and other activities for adults and children.
“All of our vendors are local, within the surrounding area,” said Ashley Adams, Co-Chair of the Barr Street Market. “Everything they make is theirs, their own, local produced and when you come down you're buying locally which in turn really helps our community and helps our economy here in Fort Wayne.”
Admission to the History Center is free during the market hours.
This summer, market goers will be invited to help create a history time-line as part of the events.
