FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- On Black Friday, not only can you save money, but you can help a local non-profit raise money.

The African/African-American Historical Society Museum (AAAHSM) has partnered with Barnes & Noble at Jefferson Pointe for Black Friday 2013. The book store will donate 10 percent of any purchase to the museum.

The donation applies for online purchases and cheesecake orders made five days before and after the sale. Cheesecake is available in the store cafe.

But to donate, you have to mention the “AAAHSM” (pronounced 'awesome') at checkout.

"We're re-branding our organization as the ‘awesome’ because if you think about our initials, AAAHSM sounds like ‘awesome’ in text-speak, so we're the ‘AAAHSM Museum’," said museum director Dr. John Aden. "If people mention that they support the AAAHSM museum downtown, then a percentage of their purchase will go toward us in the form of a donation from Barnes & Noble."

Dr. Aden says all the proceeds will go toward the museum's enrichment programs.

"We have an early learning program for 3-5 year olds where they will essentially be read children's books with African and African-American historical and cultural themes. Also it will provide an introduction to the touch-math learning program,” he said.

Museum board members will also be at the Jefferson Pointe location from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. to gift-wrap items for donations.
