FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – According to a new survey, about 49 percent of drivers admit they text while behind the wheel.
Texting and driving is illegal in Indiana, but enforcing the laws can be difficult.
Our partner in news, The Journal Gazette, says this is because Indiana’s laws don't encompass other types of distractions on a cell phone, like social media and GPS for instance.
They report that if a crash does result in serious bodily injury or death, the driver's phone is routinely checked for texting. However, in most minor crashes, drivers aren't as forthcoming about their texting.
