GARRETT, Ind. (21Alive) - Garrett High School's leading scorer, rebounder and shot blocker is the first 21Alive Parkview Sports Medicine Girls Basketball Player of the Week.

Dawson, a senior guard, combined for 59 points, 25 rebounds and 10 steals in the Lady Railroaders' wins over Churubusco and Lakewood Park Christian.

Dawson passed the 1,000 career point mark against Lakewood Park, becoming the fourth girl in school history to do so.

Dawson has worked on her shooting in the offseason, developing her as both an inside and outside presence.

Garrett head coach Bob Lapadot says her versatility allows her to play in different positions in different games.

IPFW and Toledo have shown interest in Dawson. In the meantime, there is plenty of basketball for the Railroaders to be played.
