WARSAW (www.incnow.tv) - South Side rallied from a seven point halftime deficit and got past Warsaw 47-44 Saturday night for the program's first ever girls semi-state basketball title.
DeJoyah Johnson scored eleven points and Ariana Simmons ten as South won despite shooting just over 31 per cent from the field.
But they also forced 17 Warsaw turnovers and got 15 points directly from those Lady Tiger mistakes.
Nicki Grose led Warsaw with 20 points and Jennifer Walker-Crawford added 18, but the rest of the Lady Tigers scored just six points, by just two other players.
South Side, now 25-3, gets a rematch at state next week against 4A top ranked Bedford-North Lawrence, who beat the Archers in January in Bedford by 24 points.
Warsaw's season ends at 24-2.
