K's Drop Season Opener In Shootout

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21 Alive) - Despite s 35-22 advantage in shots, the Komets fell in their ECHL season opener to Toledo Saturday night 4-3 in a shootout.

Mickey Lang staked the K's to an early 1-0 lead, and after Toledo battled back to go in front, Chris Auger pulled the Komets even late in the second with a shorthanded score.

Lang hit his second of the night in the third period with about four minutes left, creating the 3-3 tie that forced overtime and then a shootout, which Toledo won 2-1 as Lang was the only Komets to score in that session.

The K's now have a week off before hosting Cincinnati on Saturday night.
