Komets Ring Out Old Year With 5-3 Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21 Alive) - Kenton Miller tallied his first goal as a Komet midway through the third period to break a 3-3 tie and the K's went on to a 5-3 New Year's Eve win over Toledo Tuesday night in front of 9,088 celebrating fans.

The line of Chris Auger, Scott Fleming, and Brandon Marino combined on the first three Fort Wayne goals, each line member scoring once and Fleming assisting on the two goals he didn't score.

Toledo managed to erase an early 1-0 deficit and took leads of 2-1 and 3-2 before Marino tied it late in the second period, and Miller put the K's ahead in the third.

Mike Embach hit an empty net late in the third for the final margin.

The Komets' first game of 2014 will come Friday night in Evansville,
