Indiana Tech Finds Out Where They Are Headed

Fort Wayne (incnow.tv)- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics officially announced the pairings and site sections for the 2013 NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round. Each of the nine locations will feature a five-team double-elimination tournament May 9-13.

National Championship Opening Round winners will join host Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) at the 57th annual Avista-NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho, May 24 – 31.

The Indiana Tech baseball team is making its fifth straight appearance in the opening round after winning its fourth WHAC Tournament title in the last five years. The Warriors are in the Montgomery Bracket playing out of Montgomery, Alabama hosted by Faulkner University as the No. 4 seed. Faulkner is the group’s top seed, Texas Wesleyan is the No. 2, the No. 3 seed is Georgetown College, and Mount Vernon Nazarene University is the No. 5 seed.

The Warriors (31-16) will face Mount Vernon Nazarene (32-15) in the first round on Thursday, May 9 with the winner advancing to play top-seed Faulkner. Faulkner came in at No. 1 in the final regular season edition of the NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, posting a 47-10 overall record. Tennessee Wesleyan ended the year ranked 16th in the country with a 40-16 record while Georgetown stood at No. 21 at 35-17.
