Carroll, Norwell Score Football Sectional Upsets; North Side Averts One

UNDATED (www.incnow.tv) - Carroll and Norwell posted the big upsets of high school football sectional semifinals Friday night, while North Side escaped an upset.

Dru Tranquil scored both Carroll touchdowns as the Chargers surprised Penn 14-13 Friday night in a 5A football sectional semifinal game.

Tranquill accounted for a total of 163 yards combined rushing and receiving.

Penn missed a potential game winning field goal in the final seconds before the Chargers could claim one of the program's biggest victories ever.

Carroll will host South Bend Adams in the 5A Sectional 2 final.

Piercen Harnish ran for 138 yards and two touchdowns as 1-9 Norwell won its second postseason game with a 2220 upset of New Haven in 4A.

Nate Simerson added a 38 yard punt return touchdown for the Knights.

Anthony Moore ran for 120 yards and a touchdown for New Haven.

Norwell will host Dwenger in the 4A Sectional 12 final.

Anthony Linnear ran for 179 yards and two touchdowns and C.J. Jackson rolled up 111 yards on the ground while passing for a touchdown in North Side's 26-22 5A escape at South Side.

Trae Masten threw a touchdown pass, and Domonique Gleason ran for another score for South.

North will host Snider in the 5A Sectional 3 final.
