Ball State Ends Season For Volleydons

MUNCIE (www.incnow.tv) - IPFW closed their 2013 season Saturday night by falling to Ball State 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-20) in the opening round of the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association tournament.

Rob Samp ended his IPFW career with nine kills and five blocks, while Andy Sellan added eight kills and five digs.

The Mastodons jumped ahead in the middle of the first set, using a 4-0 run to lead by two at 9-7, before the host Cardinals ran off a 5-1 run to lead 12-10, and would not trail again in the set.

IPFW led twice in the second set, at 1-0 and 2-1 before the Cardinals pulled away, and used a 4-0 run to turn an 8-8 tie into a 12-8 Cardinal advantage, and they went on to the three set sweep.

Ball State was led by Jamion Hartley who had a match-high 11 kills, with Tommy Rouse picking up 10 digs.

The loss ends the 2013 IPFW season with a 13-13 record.
