INDIANAPOLIS (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Top ranked unbeaten South Putnam captured their second consecutive 2A state softball championship with a 3-1 victory over Adams Central Saturday.

The win extended South Putnam’s streak to 56 consecutive games, dating back to the 2011 season.

Indiana softball player of the year Brooke Boetjer doubled home a run and was again brilliant on the mound, though Adams Central did touch her for only the third earned run Boetjer has given up all season on a third inning double by Jenae Blackburn that at the time tied the game at 1-1.

Olivia Macklin had two of the five hits Adams Central got off Boetjer.

Adams Central wrapped up the year 20-13, and the Lady Jets' Alyssa Keller won the Mental Attitude Award.
