WOODBURN, Ind. (21Alive) - Sherwood Haydock continues to change the culture for the Woodlan High School football program.
Haydock enters his third season at Woodlan on the heels of a three-win season. Those three wins in 2012 equal the total number of wins in the previous three seasons.
This year, the Warriors finally look to experience and depth to lead them to a good season in both the ACAC and Class 2A sectionals.
"We'll move the chains, and we'll give people fits," Haydock says. "We just have to improve that turnover ratio."
Just got done at Woodlan, Warriors on uptick with Jaylin Bennett and the running game behind a huge O-line, team is bigger, more guys— Dean Pantazi (@DeanPantaziINC) August 5, 2013
Running back Jaylin Bennett returns to the backfield after rushing for more than 1,000 yards in just 7 games. Corbin Smith is back at quarterback and is building confidence at the position. DeAndre is a fierce 287-lb. playmaker who will be utilized on both offense and defense.
"We have a lot of good players that can fill the spots," Bennett says. "It feels good to know that even when you're out of the game, you have good players in."
The Warriors showed signs of improvement at the end of last season, and hope to continue where they started when they host Bellmont in Week 1.
