COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (21Alive) - Columbia City High School is known for tough-minded football teams.

The Eagles won only five games last season. If not for injuries, CC had opportunities to win three more games.

"The strengths of our offense is in the skill positions," Hudgins says. "We just have to worry about us, and be the best we can be."

Travis Herpst returns as quarterback, and running back Sam Dailey will be in the backfield. The offensive line is a work in process.

"Our size can't do it all," Herpst, who also plays safety, says. "If we can get the aggressiveness going. It just needs to be there all the time for our smaller guys to help the team out."

A tough schedule lies ahead for the Eagles, including three of their first four games on the road; and a total of three games against opponents in the newly formed IHSAA Class 6A.

"If we compared ourselves to what we have or how many people we have, we'd go crazy," Hudgins says.

Whatever the results, Columbia city's tenacity will be expected all season.
