FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Carroll High School is used to state championship appearances from its baseball team. But this school year, the girls tennis team has made a deep spring run of its own.

The Lady Chargers makes its first trip to the IHSAA Girls Tennis State Finals on Friday.

Carroll has a tough challenge against unbeaten No. 1 Carmel on Friday afternoon on the Greyhounds' home courts.

"Any team that gets to this point is a pretty good team," Carroll girls tennis head coach Kyle Stoffel says. "I wouldn't say it gets any easier, but we have to get past Carmel. We drew them, and we'll get that going right away."

If the Chargers beat Carmel on Friday, they advance to the state semi-finals on Saturday morning. The state championship is set for Saturday afternoon.
