MONROEVILLE, Ind. (21Alive) – Heritage High School won a sectional championship in football a year ago; but the loss of 24 seniors will be tough on the Patriots.
Heritage returns a total of four starters—two on offense, two on defense—but has a total of 15 seniors who have the experience of going through the program.
“Everybody’s going to be thinking of us being not better than last year,” wide receiver and safety Cole Gerardot says. “We’re just going to have to come back a new team, new attitude, and everything else will fall into place.”

Brandon Dossen takes over as quarterback, and will look to throw to the likes of Cole Gerardot, Connor Blakey and Jake Bosler at receivers. The Patriots look to pass a lot with no clear-cut running back.
“Our running back is going to be a committee,” Lehrman says. “We don’t have that one stud that can carry the ball 30 times a game.”
The Patriots have a talented sophomore class that should be able to contribute as the season goes along.
Heritage battles at New Haven in Week 1 of the season on Aug. 23.
