Komets Resign Lacasse & Maione; Offer 6 Others

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - The Fort Wayne Komets signed three defensemen and extended six offers on Tuesday.

Defensemen William Lacasse and Matthew Maione rejoin the Komets for a second season. Defenseman Drew Daniels joins the K's from Utah as part of a future considerations trade from last season.

Lacasse, 26, of Saint-Pie, Quebec, Canada, scored 9 assists, 1 goal and 10 points with the K's. 2014-15 will be his third professional season.

Maione, 23, of Toronto, made his rookie debut with the Komets last year, where he scored 3 assists in 11 regular season games and 4 assists in the playoffs.

Daniels, 25, of Suffern, N.Y., scored 6 goals and 1 assist in 13 games with Utah.

Additionally, the Komets have made extended qualifying offers to six players from the 2013-14 team: goaltender Ben Meisner, forward Scott Fleming, forward Brandon Marino, forward Aaron Clarke, forward Christian Ouellet and forward Dean Ouellet.
