FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - The Fort Wayne Komets made big roster changes Monday with the addition of a former playoff MVP and another forward and the trade of an All-Star.

Forward Mike Vaskivuo agreed to return to Fort Wayne, while trading defenseman Daniel Maggio to the San Francisco Bulls. Forward Jake Hauswirth also joins the K's.

Vaskivuo, 27, from Finland, joined the Komets on waivers for the 2012 playoffs, earning CHL Playoff MVP with 10 goals and 24 points. He played for Grenoble of the French League last season. He scored 15 goals and 28 points.

Maggio was dealt to San Francisco as part of a July 26 trade with the Bulls for defenseman Simon Danis-Peppin. Maggio appeared in 43 games last year, scoring 5 goals and 18 points. He was also named an ECHL All-Star.

Hauswirth, 25, of Houghton, Wis., enters his fifth pro season after playing throughout minor league hockey. He spent last season in Arizona of the CHL and Ontario of the ECHL.

The transactions put the Komets pre-season at 20 players: 13 forwards and 7 defensemen.
