BRAMPTON, Ontario, Canada (www.incnow.tv) - One of the Fort Wayne Komets' fan favorites has moved to a brand new franchise for next season.

Center Brett Smith was introduced Monday night by the Brampton Beast, an expansion team in the Central Hockey League. Smith is the first ever player to sign with the franchise.


Smith, 31, grew up in Guelph, Ontario, which is roughly 30 miles from Brampton.

Smith played two seasons in Fort Wayne, scoring 106 points in 118 games played. He was part of the 2012 CHL Presidents' Cup Championship team.
