OSSIAN, Ind. (21Alive) - With Spring Training around the corner for Major League Baseball, former Norwell High School standout Josh VanMeter is getting ready for his first year in the San Diego Padres organization.

Drafted by the Padres last June, VanMeter has a reasonable shot to become the first Northeast Indiana player to join the Fort Wayne TinCaps.

21Alive's Dean Pantazi met up with VanMeter days before he heads of to training camp to see the progress he's made as a professional baseball player.
