Mad Ants Tie Franchise Record For Wins in a Season with 28th Win

FORT WAYNE, IN (March 18, 2014) –The Fort Wayne Mad Ants presented by Lutheran Health Network defeated the Los Angeles D-Fenders, 125-121, this evening at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Tony Mitchell led the Mad Ants in scoring with 26 points.

The D-Fenders dominated the first quarter, outscoring the Mad Ants 34-27. Brandon Costner led L.A. with 12 points in the quarter and Ron Howard and Chris Porter netted six points apiece for Fort Wayne. The Mad Ants battled back in the second quarter and trailed by just two points going into halftime, 57-59. Ron Howard paced the Mad Ants with 10 points during the second quarter. In the third quarter the Mad Ants were finally able to pull ahead of the D-Fenders, outscoring them 34-28 in the period and taking a 91-87 lead going into the final period of play. The fourth quarter was tight but the Mad Ants were able to hold onto their four-point third quarter lead and emerged victorious, 125-121.

The D-Fenders were led by Terrance William’s 21 points and C.J. William’s 19 points.

Ron Howard scored 22 points, Will Frisby had 15 points and Jamaal Franklin and Matt Bouldin each contributed 13 points apiece.
