FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- The Komets announced Friday that players Mickey Lang and Mike Vaskivuo have been suspended by the team.

Komets general manager David Franke says "From our standpoint these two players were going to be key members of the 2013-14 Komets team, but things have not worked out from the team perspective. We feel that it is time to change up the team further and make the right move to better our team in the coming days. So, both players have been suspended until a move can be made. There will be no further discussion on the matter by the Komets until the issue is properly resolved."

A source confirms that the players asked for a trade over a week ago and have been unhappy for some time.

Multiple sources say Mikey Lang and Mike Vaskivuo didn't show up for practice Thursday night.

Lang is currently leading the ECHL in goals with 17 and Vaskivuo was the K's playoff MVP during their CHL Championship run a few years ago.
