TOLEDO, Ohio (21 Alive) - Shawn Szydlowski popped home a power play goal early in the third period to break a 1-1 tie and the Komets went on to a 4-1 win over the Toledo Walleye Friday night in Fort Wayne's final road game of the season.
A first period Brandon Marino score was matched by Toledo late in the period, and after a scoreless second period, Szydlowski's score on a rebound make it 2-1 Fort Wayne.
A Chris Auger empty net score with a minute left appeared that it would be the final score, but then Matt Clarke tallied on a power play with three seconds remaining for the 4-1 final.
The win puts the Komets four points ahead of Florida for the final ECHL Eastern Conference playoff spot. Florida was idle Friday night.
The rest of the K's regular season games are at home starting on Saturday night against Cincinnati.
