FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- Fort Wayne Komets Captain Colin Chaulk has decided to retire due to health reasons.

The 36-year-old Komets veteran has confirmed that he is battling an infection that is attacking his nervous system and will be retiring from the K's. Doctors say it could take at least two years for his nervous system to rejuvenate after this infection.

The Toronto native has won 5 championships with the team and spent the 2012-2013 season as a player/assistant coach.

Chaulk has expressed interest in working with the Komets as a coach but it is still up in the air whether he will have that opportunity or not.
