PINEHURST, NC (21 Alive) - Martin Kaymer pulled away from the field eveb further Sunday with a final round one under par 69 and won the U.S. Open by eight shots.
Kaymer, who dominated the field all four days, ended at nine under 271, well ahead of Erik Compton and Rickie Fowler, who tied for second at 279, one under par.
Kaymer, Compton, and Fowler were the only three golfers to end the tournament under par.
