PORTLAND, Maine (21Alive) - Frank Gaines left IPFW men's basketball program as all-time career points leader.

Now in the NBA Developmental League, Gaines hopes a rookie season with the Maine Red Claws can help better his basketball career.

Gaines was drafted last year by Maine in the D-League Draft, and moved into the starting line-up by game 3 of the season.

Finishing the regular season with a 22 points per game average, Gaines is fifth in the D-League in scoring.

Gaines has worked hard all season to position himself in a NBA training camp with aspirations of making an NBA roster.

While he would love to play in the NBA, he is willing to see how his career plays out. He says playing basketball overseas is also an option.
