Colts Lose Leading Rusher Ballard For Season

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (21 Alive) - A knee ijury suffered in practice has knocked Colts running back Vick Ballard out for the season after just one game.

Ballard tore tore his anterior cruciate Thursday on what coach Chuck Pagano called a freak play where he planted the knee and it just gave out.

Ballard has been placed on injured reserve, ending his season.

He ran for 63 yards in the opener against Oakland,to lead the Colts, and was their leading rusher last season with 814 yards.

The running chores now fall to Ahmad Bradshaw and Donald Brown.
