Bird Returning As Pacers President

June 26, 2013 Updated Jun 27, 2013 at 8:21 AM EST

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (www.incnow.tv) - Larry Bird's year hiatus from the Pacers' presidency will officially end on Thursday, when the Pacers will announce his return at a morning news conference.

Bird gave up the position a year ago to the day he returns after dealing with medical issues.

Former team president Donnie Walsh returned to the front office at that time to fill the role, with the understanding he would vacate it should Bird decide to return, and Walsh will remain with the team as a consultant.

Bird while away spent time at his homes in Nashville, Ind. and Naples, Fla. He had attended one game and a practice during the season and had been spotted in the fieldhouse earlier this week.
