Two More Area Players Taken In Baseball Draft

UNDATED (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Two more area natives, Kevin Kiermaier and Chris Squires, were chosen in the Major League Baseball Draft on Wednesday, bring the total of draftees from northeast Indiana to five..

Kiermaier, a former star at Bishop Luers, was taken in the 31st round by the Tampa Bay Rays

He is Parkland College's all time leader in home runs, triples, and batting average

Squires, who starred in high school at Canterbury, was picked in the 37th round by the Florida Marlins.

Squires leaves Indiana University as the Hoosiers' all time leader in saves and game appearances.

They join Norwell grad Scott Woodward, New Haven alum Matt Bischoff, and Angola grad Zach Dygert, who were all drafted Tuesday, as 2010 Major League draftees.
