June 21, 2010 Updated Jul 13, 2009 at 11:22 PM EDT

Peoria, IL – Allan Dykstra blasted a 1st-inning home run against major-league RHP
Kevin Hart, but the Fort Wayne TinCaps were held hitless for the game’s middle seven
innings in a 5-2 loss to the Peoria Chiefs. Monday’s loss at O’Brien Field means the
TinCaps took a series loss for the first time since early June.
Blake Tekotte bounced a single up the middle to lead off the game. Daniel Robertson
bounced into a fielder’s choice and stole second. Dykstra followed with a two-run blast
over the wall in right-center to put Fort Wayne ahead, 2-0. A two-out single by Cole
Figueroa was the last hit for the TinCaps until there were two out in the 9th inning.
TinCaps RHP Erik Davis kept Peoria in check through four innings, allowing just one base
hit. In the bottom of the 5th, Kyler Burke drew a leadoff walk. After a single by Jovan
Rosa, Michael Brenly yanked an RBI double down the left-field line to make it a 2-1
game. Junior Lake bunted for a base hit to load the bases. Then Nelson Perez
hammered a two-run double high off the wall in right-center to put the Chiefs ahead, 3-2.
Two batters later, Drew Macias bounced a two-run single up the middle to push the
deficit to 5-2.
From there, the bullpens controlled the game. Peoria LHP Jeffrey Beliveau worked four
hitless innings to pick up the win while three Fort Wayne relievers (Alexis Lara, Nick
Schumacher and Zach Herr) pitched a scoreless inning each.
The TinCaps broke up the hitless streak when Robert Lara smoked a two-out single to
center with two out in the 9th inning off closer Chris Huseby.
Beliveau moved to 4-3 with the win. Davis (8-4) took the loss, the first for a Fort Wayne
starter in the month of July. Huseby notched his 10th save.
The TinCaps dropped to 60-28 overall, 15-3 in the second half. The Chiefs improved to
46-41, 8-10 in the half.
Fort Wayne has Tuesday off before opening a six-game homestand Wednesday at
Parkview Field. The TinCaps host the Clinton LumberKings (Class-A Seattle Mariners)
Wednesday in a 7:05pm first pitch. RHP Anthony Bass (9-3) will be opposed by a Clinton
pitcher to be determined.
