ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - The Cincinnati Reds are trading one of
their most promising hitters.
The Reds have agreed to trade outfielder Josh Hamilton to the
Texas Rangers for pitchers Edinson Volquez and Danny Herrera.
The 26-year-old Hamilton batted .292 this year in his first
major league season. He finished the year with 19 homers and 47
RBIs in 298 at-bats despite missing playing time due to an inflamed
digestive track and a sprained wrist.
Cincinnati had acquired Hamilton from Tampa Bay during last
year's winter meeting draft.
Volquez was 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA in six starts for the
Rangers last season. The Reds need another pitcher to fill out a
rotation headed by Aaron Harang and Bronson Arroyo.
