HUNTINGTON, Ind. (21Alive) - One of the state's most successful softball coaches is stepping away from the diamond.

Paris Seibold confirmed with 21Alive on Wednesday that he is resigning as Huntington North High School softball coach.

Seibold says he enjoyed his 17 seasons at Huntington North, but decided it was a good time to step away to spend more time with his family.

The Lady Vikings were IHSAA 4A Softball State Runners-Up in 2012 and made a semi-state appearance (regional champions) this past season, going 24-6. Star pitcher Erin Rethlake took home Indiana Miss Softball honors this past season, and Gatorade Indiana Softball Player of the Year last year.

Seibold says he plans to still teach at Huntington North.

The resignation is set to be approved Monday at the Huntington County Community Schools Corporation board meeting.
