INDIANAPOLIS (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A year after finishing runner-up, second-ranked Lakewood Park Christian got the big prize Saturday, winning the Class A softball state championship by defeating Indianapolis Lutheran 3-2 in the final game..

The Panthers opened the scoring in the third with RBI hits by Courtney Sliger and Jaclyn Delgrange.

After Indianapolis Lutheran replied with two to tie in their half of the third, the scored did not change until the top of the seventh, when Sliger singled home Jamie Budreau for what turned out to be the winning run.

Sliger's three hits and two RBI led the Lady Panthers, while on the mound, Mikeila Boroff (27-5) went all seven innings with ten strikeouts.

It is Lakewood Park's first state championship in school history in any sport.
