Northrop Runners Key Girls Sectional Title Win

FORT WAYNE (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Northrop used wins in five individual running events and two relays to capture the team title Tuesday night at the Northrop girls track sectional.

The Bruins totaled 135 points to 105 for runnerup Carroll and 102 for third place Snider.

Wins by Dejah Arnold in the 400, Amber McGee in the 200, Demetra Taylor in the 100 hurdles, Makelle Skelton in the 300 hurdles, and Emma Mirwaldt in the 1600 powered the Bruins' win, coupled with their wins in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

Churubusco's Heather Monk won both the shot put and discus.

Carroll's second place finish was led by Olivia Hippensteel winning to 800, Melanie Ruich capturing the 3200, and a win by the Charfers' 3200 relay team.
