Columbia City's Murphy Casts College Lot With Miami of Ohio

COLUMBIA CITY (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Columbia City do it all football standout Jared Murphy committed on Friday to play his college football at Miami of Ohio.

Murphy, a 5-8 140 mutli positional player, will play wide receiver with the RedHawks, and major in business at Miami.

Murphy says the RedHawks have been on him since his sophomore season, and offered a scholarship after his third visit to campus Thursday for a workout.

He also had interest from schools like Indiana and Purdue, and offers from Saint Francis, Tiffin, and Eastern Illinois.

Murphy caught a Columbia City record 57 passes as a junior for 732 yards and six touchdowns.

He also ran for 145 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 385 yards and five scores.

And as a defensive back, Murphy had 60 tackles and four pass interceptions.
