FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) -- 6-4 Senior forward Drew Sery of Homestead comes off a busy week to be the Indiana's NewsCenter boys basketball player of the week.

Elevated to the varsity late in his Sophomore season and a starter since, Drew had big roles in both Spartan games last week.

He hit for 26 in the five overtime loss at Concordia, and was one of six of the eight available Spartan players to foul out, and then came back with 23 the next night in the conference win over East Noble.

There has been steady improvement in Drew's game

Drew averages over 15 points a game, and had worked to be stronger physically so he can be more effective closer to the basket.

His coach says drew brings both talent and character to the table for his Spartan team.

Johnson says Drew will be a good small college player, and a factor to the Spartans fortunes the rest of this season.
