MONROE, Ind. (21Alive) - Adams Central High School's football team hopes this season picks up from a high note it ended last season.

The Flying Jets won four of their last six games in 2013, losing by one point to county rival South Adams in the second round of sectionals.

Experience will be the key for AC with sophomore quarterback Andrew Hammond leading seven returning starters on offense. He will be protected by four senior linemen.

Defensively, the Jets return eight starters from their 6-5 team. While Adams Central will not have the biggest players in the Allen County Athletic Conference, the team has tasted success and knows how to build on it.

Adams Central hosts Bellmont for the season opener on Aug. 22.
