FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - North Side High School's boys basketball program is ready for another run coming off an impressive season a year ago.
The Redskins reign as Summit Athletic Conference Champions, but did lose to Northrop in a 4A sectional.
North Side returns four starters and depth off the bench that could provide a solid run come March.
"We set our expectations high this year," head coach Shabaz Khaliq says. "Not just because we have a good group coming back, but because we've got a lot of seniors. We want to make the season memorable for them."
Khaliq enters season No. 4 at North Side along with a core group of seniors that can score very quickly.
"Our offense will take care of itself," guard Jeremy Jones says. "Our offense will help us win a lot of games, because we'll outscore opponents."
But the Redskins understand the importance of developing the defense.
"We really got to lock it in defensively," guard Trevion Crews adds. "Defensive rebounds and getting out on the fast break is going to win us some games."
North Side opens the regular season Dec. 3 against Blackhawk Christian at By Hey Arena.
