FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - There is a lot that goes into running a high school athletic office on a daily basis year after year.
Gail Vogt has worked at Snider for 26 years, the last 12 in the Panthers' athletic office.
Last week, athletic director Russ Isaacs invited a 21Alive camera crew into the school, telling Vogt she would be featured in a story on the behind-the-scenes work of the athletic office.
Little did she know the story was more of a thank you to her before before her retirement next week.
Between tracking down student-athletes' code of conducts forms and selling hundreds of of Panther hats and T-shirts, Vogt has always found time to help the 21Alive sports department amid the hustle-and-bustle of school hallways and newsrooms.
"I love the daily interaction with the kids," Vogt says. "Several of them come in this office on a daily basis, whether they need something or not. They just stick their head in and say 'hey.' A lot of them call me 'G-Mama.'"
Vogt is just one example of so many unsung heroes that make sure high school sports stay on schedule. We wish her all the best.
