OSSIAN, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - The Northeast Hoosier Conference will disband in 2015, conference officials announced Thursday.
"In analyzing many different factors, disparity among schools in terms of enrollment continues to grow," Mark Misch, president of the NHC and principal of Norwell High School, said in a statement. "All member schools mutually agreed to withdraw from the NHC effective July 1, 2015."
The NHC is comprised of eight area high schools: Bellmont, Columbia City, DeKalb, East Noble, Carroll, Homestead, New Haven and Norwell. The decision to part ways will allow each school to join other conferences after the 2014-15 school year.
The two-year transition is a result of provisions within the NHC constitution.
